L'existence humaine est, par essence, contradictoire. Il subsiste en chacun de nous un duende, un lutin charmeur, prêt à nous envoûter, à nous libérer des destins figés. Dans cet essai subtil et nuancé, Miguel Maldonado, poète et chercheur mexicain, montre combien Octavio Paz n'a eu de cesse d'affirmer certaines choses puis leur contraire, nous entraînant dans les cercles sans fin du devenir humain. Ou plutôt dans cette spirale où les choses ne reviennent jamais au même niveau : les valeurs que l'on croyait éternelles ne sont plus attractives, alors que d'autres, que l'on croyait caduques, reprennent vie et suscitent engouement et passion. Dans les périodes « diluviennes » qui sont les nôtres, cette lecture d'Octavio Paz nous aide à enrichir la raison raisonnante par l'apport des sens et de l'imagination, et dès lors à apprécier ce que Miguel Maldonado nomme, bellement, « l'AUTRETÉ ». Au-delà des idéologies du moment, des moyens conventionnels de la pensée, ce livre rappellera la nécessité de redonner toute sa place au mystère, au rêve, à la vocation, à l'énigme du tempérament, dans la poésie, les sciences humaines et la vie. |
