Note generali

Translation of "Verdadera historia del rey Don Rodrigo".

Translator's dedication signed: M.T.

This work, which Southey was inclined to consider an authentic history of the Arabic conquest of Spain, to A.D. 761, and as written in Arabic but two years later, is now shown by Conde, Gayangos and others to be a bold literary forgery of little value, originally composed by Miguel de Luna. cf. Ticknor, Hist. Span. lit., London, 1849, v. 1, p. 195-196, note.

Identified on UMI microfilm reel 669 as Wing H2148A (number cancelled in Wing 2nd ed.).
