Et si la frontière était le centre du territoire ? Et si l'origine n'était pas un événement premier mais un événement répété et donc à venir ? Autant de questions posées par l'accueil de l'étranger aux frontières d'une tribu berbérophone du Sud marocain, les Aït Ba'amran, composée en grande partie de bannis venus des quatre coins du Maghreb et par-delà. Car l'étranger, l'ethnologue y compris, est ici invité à habiter les frontières du territoire politique pour incarner au mieux les valeurs d'une fondation axées sur le principe de conquête et non sur celui d'autochtonie. Quand l'altérité se joue de l'histoire, le dernier arrivant devient le premier venu, ou encore un Juif errant, le digne descendant du prophète de l'Islam. Seul l'exil est à même de susciter une si particulière manière de s'inscrire dans le sol et c'est à l'ombre des arganiers, dans les dernières montagnes arides du Sud-Ouest marocain avant le Sahara, que Romain Simenel a pu tirer parti de l'originalité du contexte ethnographique pour revisiter dans cet ouvrage certains paradigmes incontournables de l'Anthropologie Maghrébine : Comment aujourd'hui encore le territoire tribal articule-t-il segmentarité et sainteté ? Quelle place occupe le rituel dans la perception du territoire |
