Hispanics are the largest minority, Asians are the most affluent, and blacks are making big gains in education and earnings. New to this edition of Racial and Ethnic Diversity is a chapter on attitudes by race and Hispanic origin that is based on data from the ; recently released 2008 General Social Survey. You also get, in addition to detailed estimates and projections of the U.S. population by race and Hispanic origin, the latest socioeconomic data on blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and American Indians. Also included are data the spending of Asian, black, Hispanic, and non-Hispanic white households, plus the latest wealth data from the Survey of Consumer Finances. Unpublished data from the American Time Use Survey, broken out by race and Hispanic origin, reveal how each group, including Asians and American Indians, prioritize the average day.
