Hummingbirds may be the smallest birds in the world, but they have the biggest appetites. Their wings flutter on average fifty to eighty times each second as they visit hundreds of flowers over the course of a day to sip the sweet nectar that sustains them. Their hearts beat nearly twelve hundred times a minute and their rapid breathing allows these amazing birds to sustain their unique manner of flight. They can hover in the air for prolonged periods, fly backwards using forceful wings that swivel at the shoulder, and dive at nearly two hundred miles per hour. Native only to the Americas, some hummingbirds have been known to migrate from Mexico to Alaska in the course of a season. |

iscritti alle scuole secondarie di secondo grado e alla formazione professionale nella Provincia Autonoma di Trento. Alla ricerca hanno partecipato anche gli insegnanti di italiano degli stessi ordini di scuola, che sono stati interpellati sulla scrittura, sul modo di insegnarla e sulle modalità e i tempi di apprendimento degli studenti. Le opinioni e gli elaborati degli studenti aprono interrogativi che investono sia la loro autonomia nell'eseguire compiti di scrittura sia la competenza nel ricavare informazioni dai testi per sintetizzarle e nell'argomentare per convincere il potenziale lettore. Il confronto dei dati relativi agli studenti con le risposte degli insegnanti consente di enucleare problemi e delineare ipotesi di lavoro circa l'insegnare-apprendere la scrittura nel biennio conclusivo dell'obbligo scolastico. |
