En ce jour de Noël 1944, les combats seront particulièrement durs dans certains secteurs du front. Au nord-ouest de Bastogne, c'est avant le lever du jour que le général Kokott, craignant les chasseurs-bombardiers, lance une des plus fortes attaques qu'ait eu à contenir la 101e division depuis son encerclement.
