• Sommario/riassunto: Il libro approfondisce la figura del tragediografo Agatone (fine V secolo a.C.) e fornisce ai 34 frammenti superstiti della sua opera un'edizione critica con commento. Questo lavoro s'inserisce nell'attuale tendenza degli studi classici a dedicare particolare attenzione a testi frammentari. Sebbene le tragedie di Agatone risultino dimenticate già in epoca antica, sembra che in ambito tragico egli sia stato un autore di successo, nonché d'avanguardia. Il contributo più importante che diede ; alla storia del teatro fu la sostituzione delle parti corali tradizionali con intermezzi del tutto slegati rispetto al contenuto della trama. L'analisi svolge un'indagine quanto più possibile completa intorno a una figura determinante del genere tragico e pone le basi per una più profonda comprensione delle trasformazioni del teatro tra il V e il IV secolo a.C. Beatrice Gavazza è assistente alla cattedra di Filologia e Letteratura Greca dell'Università Albert Ludwig di Friburgo in Brisgovia. Per il suo lavoro sul poeta tragico Agatone ha ricevuto nel 2020 il premio Günter Wöhrle, promosso dalla fondazione Humanismus Heute per tesi dottorali eccellenti inerenti al campo dell'Antichistica e composte presso l'Università Albert Ludwig di Friburgo.
