The Committee on Commerce, to whom were referred "two memorials of merchants and others, citizens of New York and Brooklyn, praying the adoption of measures for ascertaining the correctness of certain alleged discoveries of guano on Jarvis and Baker's Islands, in the Pacific Ocean, the quality of the guano and its accessibility to merchant vessels," have had the same under consideration .
