Given Mutinta is an Associate Professor at the Department of Media and Communication Studies at Nelson Mandela University. He has two Doctorates from both the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He teaches several courses in Media and Communication Studies, and Research Methodology. His research focuses on the use of action research approaches and communication-centred approach to advance knowledge and practice in media and communication studies.
