Christian Mann gibt einen Überblick über die antike Militärgeschichte von den homerischen Epen bis zur Spätantike. Behandelt werden Bewaffnung und Kampftaktiken der antiken Heere, vor allem aber die Stellung von Soldaten in der Gesellschaft sowie die ökonomische und kulturelle Dimension von Kriegführung. Im zweiten Teil erklärt der Autor verschiedene Forschungsansätze, etwa die klassische Schlachtengeschichte, die Sozialgeschichte der Soldaten oder die psychohistorische Erforschung von Kriegserfahrungen. Militärische Phänomene werden in ihrer Wechselwirkung mit gesellschaftlichen und ökonomischen Entwicklungen diskutiert und Strategien der Legitimation von Kriegen in der griechischen und römischen Kultur dargestellt. Den dritten Teil bildet eine ausgewählte, thematisch gegliederte Bibliographie. |

In recent years, diet- and lifestyle-related disorders have become a major health threat in Europe and worldwide. The contributions in this monograph include 2 review articles and 19 original contributions from several countries that provide new information on the existing research elucidating important aspects of children's and adolescents' nutrition and lifestyle behavior. The data included in this Special Issue are from large epidemiological studies, including several multicenter and multinational studies, as well as datasets from surveillance initiatives. The topics of interest of this Special Issue include the co-occurrence of multiple health behaviors in children, the role of parenting and early feeding practices, dairy consumption in childhood, validity of dietary intake data, dietary supplement use in children, as well as socioeconomic disparities and eating culture. The diverse articles in this Special Issue highlight the complexity and extent to which nutrition and physical activity behaviors may influence different health aspects of children and adolescents. As seen by the various findings and recommendations, not only is more work in this area required but the translation of this work to practice and policy is imperative if we are to address the challenges impacting the nutrition, physical activity, and health of young populations. |

Cet ouvrage représente la première grande synthèse de l'histoire du roman sentimental au Québec.Alors que le roman d'amour est un des genres les plus lus, il a été victime jusqu'ici du mépris des élites envers des textes écrits « à l'eau de rose ». Un tel désintérêt est regrettable, car, pour qui se délivre des préjugés entretenus à son encontre, la littérature sentimentale offre un portrait exceptionnellement riche des interdits et des fantasmes de la société québécoise.Du roman de sensibilité à la chick lit, des fascicules populaires à la new adult, du roman de la victime à l'homoromance ou des photoromans aux sagas du viol, on s'étonne de la diversité des courants à l'intérieur d'un genre |
