Soziale Konflikte sind dynamische Prozesse: Was als friedlicher Protest beginnt, kann zu einem Krieg eskalieren. Lotta Mayer analysiert diese Dynamiken auf der Basis einer konflikttheoretischen Reformulierung des Symbolischen Interaktionismus. So werden Kontingenz und Eigendynamik von Konfliktverläufen rekonstruiert und Kriege als genuin soziale Phänomene erfasst. Im Zentrum stehen der Interaktionsprozess zwischen den Konfliktparteien, die ihm zugrunde liegenden Sinnkonstruktionen und seine unintendierten Folgen. Eine eventuelle Eskalation vollzieht sich im Wechselspiel mit der Veränderung der Konfliktparteien. Am Ende kann ein kriegerischer Vielparteienkonflikt stehen, in dem Befriedungsversuche kontraproduktive Konsequenzen zeitigen. |
