La tradition chinoise nomme « paysages d'emprunt » ces vues sur la nature soulignées par un cadre à claire-voie, que les architectes de jardin ménagent le long des galeries offertes à la promenade des princes. Un tel dispositif, conjugaison d'attente et de surprise, réunit quelques-uns des principaux paradoxes autour desquels tourne ce livre. Il s'agit de s'arrêter, pour une fois, sur la limite et sur ce qu'elle ouvre dans l'expérience des arts. Sur la loi incertaine du cadre perceptif, le tremblement des contours et des œuvres, le mouvement infini des contextes. Dix articles, dix épreuves : une « architecture de points de vue », comme dit Deleuze, qui converge en un lieu où la promenade pourrait bien faire vaciller la fenêtre et laisser filer le regard hors du champ attendu. La limite des arts touche à l'illimité de l'art. En témoignent ici le Voyage d'hiver comme le readymade, Bartleby avec Denis Roche, et tous les paysages esthétiques déclinés dans des pratiques aussi divergentes que la danse, la photographie ou la cure. |

Das vorliegende Buch bietet die erste systematische Untersuchung zum Thema Alterssuizid in der griechisch-römischen Antike. Der Autor zeigt, daß bereits im Altertum das hohe Alter, der nahende Tod, Altersleiden und der erwogene oder vollzogene Freitod ein kohärentes, dem zeitgenössischen Denken und Erleben vertrautes Motivgeflecht bildeten. Trotz einer dürftigen Quellenlage läßt sich plausibel annehmen, daß der wegen Krankheiten, Einsamkeit und Lebensüberdruß ins Auge gefaßte oder begangene Suizid im höheren Lebensalter weit größere Bedeutung besaß, als angesichts der spärlichen Informationen zu vermuten wäre. Nachweislich existierten bereits umfängliche und detaillierte geriatrische Kenntnisse, darunter auch empirisch fundiertes Wissen um den Alterssuizid. Und schließlich haben sich auch bereits die antiken Ärzte mit dem Problem erwünschter – passiver oder aktiver – Sterbehilfe auseinandersetzen müssen. |
