Sommario/riassunto

Building materials are experiencing degradation phenomena due to the long-term action of the atmospheric components. The understanding of the transport characteristics in concrete is a key issue to mitigate the deleterious consequences. Conventional cement-based materials suffer from a lack of ductility. However, modern cement compositions, fiber materials and additions allow to engineer new products adjusted to the purpose. These and several key topics for modern civil engineering are discussed in this book.

Sommario/riassunto

The Brown trout displays widely divergent life history strategies involving, variously, usage of streams, rivers, lakes, estuaries and the sea. The sea trout is the full sea-going form, it is very common and competes with salmon for the position of the most sought after migratory salmonid in many countries. Its use of freshwater, estuaries and coastal waters gives it a unique position as a sentinel species of environmental quality across these habitats. Although a commercially and recreationally important fish species, the management and scientific knowledge about sea trout has often been ov

Sommario/riassunto

The Non-Aligned Movement had an important impact on the history of decolonization, South-South cooperation, the Global Cold War and the North-South conflict. During the 20th century nearly all Asian, African and Latin American countries joined the movement to make their voice heard in global politics. In The Non-Aligned Movement , Jürgen Dinkel examines for the first time the history of the NAM since the interwar period as a special reaction of the “Global South” to changing global orders. The study shows breaks and caesurae as well as continuities in the history of globalization and analyses the history of international relations from a non-western perspective. For this book, empirical research was undertaken in Germany, Great Britain, Indonesia, Russia, Serbia, and the United States.
