A study of the opera L'Arbace by composer Bianchi and librettist Sertor, which premiered in Naples in 1781. An unpublished manuscript preserved in the National Library of Naples hands down both the original version of the libretto and the changes made by the reviser Luigi Serio. His papers reveal a real laboratory from which cuts, barely sketched attempts, incomplete pieces, numbers in multiple versions and requests from the composer emerge. |
