Este libro expone la realidad del movimiento sindical en Colombia evidenciando una paradoja: un incremento exponencial de sindicatos, pero con una tasa afiliación que no crece y se mantiene alrededor del 5 %. Con estadísticas sólidas, la autora evidencia malas prácticas generadas por la creación de sindicatos con los mismos afiliados, así como la proliferación de fueros sindicales. De igual modo, examina otras situaciones de abuso como las dificultades para levantar los fueros por las demoras en procesos judiciales, consecuencia de la estrategia dilatoria de sindicatos; abusos en permisos y auxilios sindicales; violación al derecho negativo de asociación; abusos de algunos sindicatos por negarse a resolver el conflicto colectivo y retirar a conveniencia el pliego de peticiones.
