Sommario/riassunto

Throughout the world HIV prevalence is generally lower in populations that practice male circumcision than in populations where most men are uncircumcised. This has been observed over the years of the epidemic and has been confirmed by three randomized controlled trials concluded in 2005-2006.The results have led to the conclusion that male circumcision is an effective risk-reduction measure for men and should be used in addition to other known strategies for the prevention of heterosexually acquired infection. This book provides guidance to decision makers on human rights, ethical and legal c

Sommario/riassunto

This work brings together the results, information and data that emerged from an international cooperative project, DECOVALEX, 1992-1995. This project was concerned with the mathematical and experimental studies of coupled thermo(T) -hydro(H) -mechanical(M) processes in fractured media related to radioactive waste disposal. The book presents, for the first time, the systematic formulation of mathematical models of the coupled T-H-M processes of fractured media, their validation against theoretical bench-mark tests, and experimental studies at both laboratory and field scales. It also present

Sommario/riassunto

This book, written by Dr. Georg Neuhaus, provides a comprehensive analysis of the municipal activities and economic conditions in

Königsberg, Prussia, during the early 20th century. It explores the development and management of public services such as health care, sanitation, transportation, and municipal utilities. The author examines the challenges faced by the city due to its geographical and climatic conditions, as well as economic constraints stemming from historical events like the Napoleonic Wars. The study highlights the financial struggles of the city, including its lingering war debts and limited economic resources. The book is intended for scholars and policymakers interested in urban development, public administration, and economic history.
