for rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats, and chinchillas. Emphasizing biology, contemporary husbandry, diagnostics and clinical procedures, clinical signs, and diseases and conditions, the book is equally useful in the research, companion animal practice, or food animal setting. New topics for the Sixth Edition include environmental monitoring for rodent health assessments, behavioral management considerations for optimizing animal health, enhanced pain assessment approaches, as well as considerations for creating a welfare-friendly small mammal practice. The Sixth Edition also updates common therapeutics, analgesics, anesthetics, and blood collection methodology, disease biology, husbandry, diagnostic modalities, and references, and covers new techniques for creating and modifying genetically engineered rodents. The Sixth Edition of Harkness and Wagner's Biology and Medicine of Rabbits and Rodents is an essential reference for veterinary professionals dealing with small mammal species in research or practice settings, as well as veterinary students interested in small animals, comparative medicine, or laboratory animal medicine"-- |

"Joy is a politicized form of pleasure that goes beyond gratification to challenge norms of gender, sexuality, race, and class. Kristie Soares focuses on the diasporic media of Puerto Rico and Cuba to examine how music, public activist demonstrations, social media, sitcoms, and other areas of culture resist the dominant stories told about Latinx joy. As she shows, Latinx creators compose versions of joy central to social and political struggle and at odds with colonialist and imperialist narratives that equate joy with political docility and a lack of intelligence. Soares builds her analysis around chapters that delve into gozando in salsa music, precise joy among the New Young Lords Party, choteo in the comedy Que Pasa U.S.A.?, azúcar in the life and death of Celia Cruz, dale as Pitbull's signature affect, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's use of silliness to take seriously political violence"-- |
