A Subject With No Object is a study of philosophical attempts to interpret mathematics in nominalistic terms, that is: to give an account of mathematics in terms of the doctrine that there are no such things as mathematical objects. Clear, concise, critical accounts are given of the various versions of nominalism that have played a significant role in the philosophy of mathematics in recent decades, making possible for the first time a proper comparativeevaluation.
