Le gouvernement des corps se manifeste aujourd’hui sur une diversité de scènes : diffusion de médicaments de l’impuissance, transfert des soins de l’hôpital vers la famille, réglementation de l’interruption de grossesse et de la gestion de la mort ; mais aussi contrôle de la prostitution, imposition de normes conjugales, administration des conduites des pauvres et des immigrés. Plus que des professions et des institutions de santé, ce livre traite ainsi des manières dont les sociétés contemporaines ses saisissent les limites et les usages légitimes. Plutôt qu’à une surveillance univoque, on affaire à des formes multiples d’intervention étatique et de régulation sociale. Ainsi se dessinent les contours de nouvelles biopolitiques. |
