Sommario/riassunto

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is conceptualized as a neurobehavioural condition that is characterised by developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, impulsivity and motor over activity. It is estimated to be present in 37% of school-aged populations and can result in significant impairment in academic, social and family functioning. In this book, the authors present current research in the study of the cognitive symptoms, genetics and treatment outcomes of ADHD. Topics discussed include the disadvantages and benefits of stimulant treatment; a discussion on whether professions differ in their beliefs about the causes and treatments of ADHD; motor coordination dysfunction in ADHD; nutrition optimisation in the multi-modal treatment of ADHD; and the relation between sluggish cognitive tempo

and ADHD.
