Wie wollen wir sterben? Noch in diesem Jahr sollen im Deutschen Bundestag Gesetzeswerke verabschiedet werden, die sich mit den rechtlichen Fragen um die »Sterbehilfe« und die Zulässigkeit eines »assistierten Suizids« befassen.Aus unterschiedlichen Blickrichtungen nähert sich der Band dieser Thematik: Rainer Maria Kardinal Woelki behandelt in seinem Beitrag die Würde des Sterbens und ein Sterben in Würde. Der Verfassungsrechtler Christian Hillgruber weist auf, warum den Staat mit Blick auf das Leben eine grundrechtliche Schutzpflicht trifft, die ein Verbot der Beihilfe zum Suizid gebietet. Der



Medizinethiker Giovanni Maio zeigt auf, dass sich hinter dem Wunsch nach Suizid und Sterbehilfe letztlich ein Menschenbild verbirgt, das das Alt-, Krank- und Gebrechlichwerden als Schwundstufen des Menschseins betrachtet. Der Mediziner Christoph von Ritter geht der Frage nach, warum Ärzte nicht töten dürfen. Abschließend analysiert der Sozialethiker Manfred Spieker die vier im Deutschen Bundestag diskutierten Gesetzentwürfe zur Sterbehilfe.
