Die Kunst Cy Twomblys gilt noch immer als hermetisch und schwer zugänglich. Greub analysiert Twomblys Bildsprache und lotet die Möglichkeiten ihrer Interpretierbarkeit aus. Grundlage bildet die Vorstellung, dass die Werke des Künstlers zwar nicht ›zähmbar‹ sind, dafür aber sehr wohl beschrieben und gedeutet werden können. Die Thematisierung von Twomblys technischen ›Grundparametern‹ (Linie bzw. Geste, Chiffren und Einschreibungen) schafft eine Grundlage zum Verständnis seiner Werke.
