Die "Vorschule der Ästhetik", erschienen in zwei Auflagen 1804 und 1813, stellt Jean Pauls große kunsttheoretische Schrift dar. Die Annahme: "Redet man von JPs Vorschule, meint man die zweite Auflage" (Henckelmann, S. XXI), kann jedoch im Hinblick auf die wenig erforschte Genese des Werks, seine weit gefächerten Bezüge auf literarische, wissenschaftliche und philosophische Werke und die umfangreichen Vor- und Nacharbeiten, die Jean Paul dafür verrichtete, nicht mehr als gerechtfertigt angesehen werden. Vielmehr muss ein ganzheitlicher Editions-Ansatz Jean Pauls theoretische Ästhetik anhand seiner gesamten literaturtheoretischen Hinterlassenschaft greifbar machen.Die Edition sucht dies durch Textvergleich der Auflage von 1804 mit der stark erweiterten Auflage von 1813 inklusive eines genetischen Kommentars zu erreichen. Dazu werden bisher nicht edierte Texte aus dem Nachlasss Jean Pauls mit einbezogen, die weiteren Aufschluss über Jean Pauls Art und Weise der Textherstellung erbringen. Der zusätzliche Abdruck der 1825 veröffentlichten "Kleinen Nachschule zur ästhetischen Vorschule" vervollständigt den Abdruck von Jean Pauls theoretischen Schriften in diesem Band. |

Presenting the latest in archaeometallurgical research in a Mesoamerican context, Archaeometallurgy in Mesoamerica brings together up-to-date research from the most notable scholars in the field. These contributors analyze data from a variety of sites, examining current approaches to the study of archaeometallurgy in the region as well as new perspectives on the significance metallurgy and metal objects had in the lives of its ancient peoples. The chapters are organized following the cyclical nature of metals--beginning with extracting and mining ore, moving to smelting and casting of finished objects, and ending with recycling and deterioration back to the original state once the object is no longer in use. Data obtained from archaeological investigations, ethnohistoric sources, ethnographic studies, along with materials science analyses, are brought to bear on questions related to the integration of metallurgy into local and regional economies, the sacred connotations of copper objects, metallurgy as specialized crafting, and the nature of mining, alloy technology, and metal fabrication. |
