Cet ouvrage donne une vision complète et bien documentée de la formation des systèmes agraires en Amérique latine, de l'ensemble de leur évolution et de leurs caractéristiques actuelles. L'auteur propose avec pertinence une approche interdisciplinaire faisant appel à l'histoire, l'économie et la sociologie et entraîne le lecteur dans une étude passionnante de la propriété de la terre, de l'organisation de la production agricole, des technologies utilisées et de l'impact des systèmes agraires sur l'organisation et le développement des classes et groupes sociaux du monde agricole de l'Amérique latine. Le mérite de ce livre est de présenter une histoire des systèmes agraires latino-américains de l'époque préhispanique à nos jours, la période contemporaine étant caractérisée par l'auteur comme celle d'une "modernisation conservatrice". |
