I de siste tiårene har det i skandinaviske byer vært ulike forsøk på å skape mer kreative byrom. Men det handler ofte om bruk av standardiserte design og iscenesatt lek som ikke tar utgangspunkt i byboerne selv eller er tilpasset det levde liv i byen. Med improvisasjon som optikk ser forfatterne i denne boken på hvordan vi i byutvikling og byplanlegging kan skape rom for det uforutsette. Gjennom å utforske improvisatoriske praksiser søker de å omfavne en omtenksom by- og stedsutvikling, som balanserer mellom planlegging og planløshet. Forfatterne er opptatt av hvordan improvisasjon skaper et potensial for sosialt og sanselig liv. Med eksempler fra byplanprosesser, kunstneriske praksiser, midlertidige prosjekter, kulturarv og multisensorisk etnografi diskuterer de byen som erfaring. Boken henvender seg til planleggere, byutviklere, forskere, studenter og alle med interesse for vitalt byliv. Den kan leses som en kritikk av tendensen til å forme byrom som ferdige og entydig formgivne. Boken bidrar med innspill til hvordan planløshet og improvisasjon kan bli en produktiv kraft i byutviklingen. Den oppfordrer til å skape skandinaviske byrom som i større grad gir plass til det som hele tiden oppstår i møtet mellom mennesker. |
