Antimanichäische Inhalte aus dem gesamten Werkkorpus Augustins werden, auch unter Berücksichtigung manichäischer Originaltexte, mit Blick auf ihr polemisches Gepräge untersucht. Zunächst werden mit |

dem antimanichäischen Exkurs in Psalmenpredigt 140 und mit dem Manichäerkapitel aus Augustins Spätwerk De Haeresibus zwei bislang wenig berücksichtigte Textpassagen einer detaillierten Kommentierung unterzogen. In einem zweiten Schritt präsentiert die Autorin auf der Basis von Textanalysen antimanichäische Inhalte aus dem gesamten Werkkorpus Augustins, zu zwölf Topoi zusammengestellt. Ihnen wird jeweils die Vorstellung des „manichäischen Hintergrunds“ und argumentativer Einwände Augustins an die Seite gestellt. Spannungen zwischen Fremd- und Selbstdarstellung des Manichäismus geraten ebenso in den Blick wie Gewichtungen und Typisierungen, die Augustin als Polemiker vornimmt. |
