• Sommario/riassunto: Harry Graf Kessler ist als Mäzen und Förderer der Kunst bekannt. Neben Aristide Maillol und Henry Van de Velde fallen in diesem Zusammenhang auch die Namen von Hugo von Hofmannsthal und Richard Dehmel. Während über Kesslers Engagement in der Kunst viel publiziert worden ist, bleibt sein Verhältnis zur Literatur bislang beinahe unberücksichtigt. Dabei war er selbst literarisch aktiv: 1896 wurde sein Erstlingswerk 'Mein Mexico' veröffentlicht, dann die Libretti des Rosenkavalier und der Josephslegende, schließlich 'Gesichter und Zeiten', seine Memoiren. Sein Drama 'Kaliaieff' ist weitgehend ; unbekannt, obwohl er bereits mit Max Reinhart über eine Aufführung verhandelt und die erste Szene den Schauspielern vorgelesen hat. Durch den Zwang, ins Exil zu gehen, blieb das Drama Fragment. In diesem Band wird es erstmals veröffentlicht, flankiert von hochkarätigen Beiträgen zu seiner Lektüre der emphatischen Moderne, der russischen Literatur, seinem Engagement für den Film, seiner Wahrnehmung der Ballets Russes und seinem politischen Verhältnis zum Osten überhaupt.
