• Sommario/riassunto: From the Middle Ages until today, the names of saints have been included in all areas of naming. The names of saints are present to differing extents in various classes of names, but there has been little previous research on this phenomenon. This volume is a comprehensive examination of the veneration of saints in different areas of onomastics, thereby providing new impetus for cultural ; historical research.; Namen von Heiligen sind vom Mittelalter bis in die Gegenwart zahlreich in alle Bereiche der Namengebung eingeflossen. Die Namengeber wählten den Namen eines bestimmten Heiligen, um diesen zu verehren oder die benannten Personen, Orte, Institutionen usw. in dessen Schutz zu stellen. Einmal ins sprachliche Inventar eingegangen, wurden und werden die Heiligennamen auch weiterverwendet, ohne einen direkten Bezug zum jeweiligen Heiligen herzustellen. In den verschiedenen Namenarten sind Heiligennamen in sehr unterschiedlichem Maß, teilweise aber noch überhaupt nicht erforscht. Dieser Band beleuchtet die Reflexe der Heiligenverehrung übergreifend in verschiedenen Bereichen der Onomastik und liefert damit neue Impulse kulturgeschichtlicher Forschung.
