complexe qu’elle n’en a l’air. À côté des classiques scènes de rencontre amoureuse, de première rencontre, on voit alors surgir des rencontres d’animaux et d’objets, mais aussi des rencontres de mots et, au-delà, de cultures. Il ne s’agit ici ni de jouer sur le mot, ni simplement d’établir une classification, mais de réfléchir à l’interaction de ces niveaux de la rencontre, qui constitue un dispositif fictionnel d’une redoutable efficacité. Le Roman comique se trouve ainsi éclairé d’un jour nouveau, où la physique d’Aristote et de Descartes, la circulation du théâtre au roman, l’agencement de la matière espagnole, le traitement distancié de l’héritage pétrarquiste et baroque, le passage à l’image par l’illustration, prennent sens non seulement comme moment de l’histoire littéraire française, mais comme creuset théorique de la fiction. |
