En 1966, sept ans après l’avènement de la révolution cubaine, un nouveau groupe poétique naît autour de la revue El caimán barbudo affiliée au parti communiste de Cuba. Leur écriture est turbulente, originale, alliant adhésion au pouvoir et prise de distance ludique. L’évolution de la liberté d’expression à Cuba, le retentissement national et international de leurs œuvres, pousseront certains sur le chemin de l’exil et de la dissidence, d’autres à trouver une voie singulière sur l’île. En 1996, une dernière tentative de réunion du groupe à travers les pages de la revue madrilène Encuentro de la cultura cubana redessine encore leurs liens. Croisant études littéraires et sciences sociales, ce livre retrace l’histoire inédite de ce groupe durant la seconde moitié du xxe siècle et analyse la manière dont la littérature se réinvente au gré des bouleversements politiques. En 1966, siete años después del estallido de la Revolución cubana, un nuevo grupo poético nació en torno a la revista El caimán barbudo, afiliada al Partido Comunista de Cuba. Su escritura es turbulenta y original, y combina la adhesión al poder con el distanciamiento lúdico. La evolución de la libertad de expresión en Cuba y la repercusión nacional e internacional de sus obras empujaron a algunos de ellos al exilio y a la disidencia, a otros a encontrar un camino singular en la isla. En 1996, un último intento de reunir al grupo a través de las páginas de la revista madrileña Encuentro de la cultura cubana sirvió para redefinir sus vínculos. Combinando los estudios literarios y las ciencias sociales, este libro recorre la historia inédita de este grupo durante la segunda mitad del siglo xx y analiza el modo en que la literatura se reinventa a la luz de las convulsiones políticas.
