• Sommario/riassunto: So sehr Goethe seine Theorie von der dynamischen Einheit der verschiedenen Naturformen als wesentlichen Beitrag zum naturwissenschaftlichen Diskurs seiner Zeit verstand, so wenig Wertschätzung erfuhr er in einer zunehmend auf physikalische und mathematische Methoden setzenden scientific community. Goethes zentraler Gedanke, dass das Gemeinsame der unterschiedlichen Naturgestalten nicht in abstrakten Allgemeinbegriffen zu fassen sei, sondern sich in der Übersicht über die vielgestaltigen Phänomene anschaulich zeige, fand dagegen früh Aufnahme in die Humanwissenschaften. Wie Goethe bei seiner Naturbetrachtung standen auch die Geistes- und Kulturwissenschaften nach 1800 vor der Herausforderung, eine als zunehmend unübersichtlich empfundene Lebenswelt beschreibend zu ordnen, ohne dabei die lebendigen Entwicklungen in abstrakten Begriffen stillzustellen. Die Beiträge des vorliegenden Bandes widmen sich der langen Reihe namhafter Autoren, von Wilhelm von Humboldt über Droysen, Dilthey, Simmel und Wittgenstein bis zu Adorno und Jünger, die sich programmatisch auf Goethes Morphologie bezogen haben. Der Band deckt eine bislang noch wenig beleuchtete ideengeschichtliche Kontinuität auf und liefert damit zugleich einen systematischen Beitrag zur aktuellen Diskussion um eine Theorie der Unbegrifflichkeit.

• Sommario/riassunto: This book examines the nexus of cities and oceans and the interrelations between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 11 and 14, just after the first two critical years following the milestone year of hope in 2015.
