Esta obra ofrece un florilegio de textos literarios variados, que desarrollan motivos fantásticos obsesivos relacionados entre sí. Se centra en los dos maestros españoles, Cervantes y Lope de Vega, que sintetizan un imaginario de lo extraño tan singular como universal. De la narración satírica al teatro barroco, muestra cómo se combinan lo grotesco y lo extraordinario para colocar al lector-espectador ante una duda fascinante fundadora de la escritura fantástica. L'Espagne doit-elle rester à jamais exclue des nations prisées pour leur littérature fantastique ? Issu du roman gothique anglais du xviiie siècle, le genre place au centre de la fiction l'apparition surnaturelle, point d'équilibre instable entre figure et spectre. Cette hésitation s'exprime déjà au Siècle d'or, vivier exceptionnel de textes fantastiques annonciateurs du genre. Plusieurs champs et auteurs sont ici abordés : les maîtres de l'étrange, Cervantès et Lope de Vega, mais aussi le roman picaresque, le grotesque allant souvent de pair avec le merveilleux. Comme les autres écritures, celle du théâtre baroque sait garder intacte la part de frayeur, d'incrédulité ou de « suspension » du sujet traversant le miroir de l'au-delà. |
