• Sommario/riassunto: In his richly illustrated Religion and Architecture in Premodern Indonesia Gaudenz Domenig investigates the nature of Indonesian ethnic religions by focusing on land opening rituals, sacred groves, and architectural responses to the custom of presenting offerings. Since deities and spirits were supposed to taste offerings on the spot, it was a task of architecture to attract them and to guide them into houses where offerings were presented. Domenig quotes numerous sources to show that certain material elements of the house were viewed as spirit attractors, spirit ladders or spirit pathways. Various ‘exotic’ features of Indonesian vernacular architecture thus become understandable as relics from times when architecture was still responding to indigenous religions practised in the archipelago.

• Sommario/riassunto: L'inscription au patrimoine immatériel de l'UNESCO de certaines équitations permet une reconnaissance institutionnelle des cultures équines. À l'instar de toute tradition, ces héritages sont constamment réinventés. Or, le tourisme contribue largement à cette dynamique. Cheval, tourisme et patrimoine analyse ces phénomènes à travers le prisme de l'étude de trois écoles d'équitation de tradition : le Cadre noir de Saumur en France, la Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre en Espagne, et l'Escola Portuguesa de Arte Equestre au Portugal. Il présente les processus historiques ayant abouti à l'invention de la ; tradition des équitations européennes, ainsi qu'à la (re)naissance des écoles, dans le monde contemporain. L'ouvrage analyse l'originalité de leur fonctionnement, combinant enseignement et tourisme, et explore le rôle des communautés qui les font vivre, en interrogeant la place du genre. Enfin, la viabilité du modèle socio-économique des écoles est questionnée, en étudiant leur capacité à stimuler des clusters touristiques équins innovants.
