• Sommario/riassunto: Statusfragen erleben derzeit eine Renaissance durch die Pluralisierung von Beschäftigungsformen und den Anstieg atypischer Beschäftigung. Erreichte soziale Statuspositionen werden zudem seit der Einführung des SGB II wohlfahrtstaatlich nur noch begrenzt abgesichert. Erwerbsbiografische Statusturbulenzen sind im Zuge der Prekarisierung der Arbeitswelt zu einer Alltagserfahrung geworden, immer mehr Personen können ihren sozialen Status nicht (mehr) auf Dauer absichern. Diese Arbeit zeigt auf Basis biografisch-narrativer Panelinterviews individuelle Verarbeitungsweisen vermehrter Statusinkonsistenzen auf. Natalie Grimm befragt Personen unterschiedlichster sozialer Herkunft, welche sich als Statusakrobaten im Zeitverlauf zwar den veränderten Arbeitsmarktbedingungen anpassen, diese aber auch durch ihre jeweils spezifischen biografisch geprägten Handlungsmuster verändern und prägen. Alle Interviewten leisten tagtäglich spezifische Formen von Statusarbeit, ohne dass ihnen die arbeitsmarktpolitischen Rahmenbedingungen perspektivisch eine Auflösung ihrer Statusinkonsistenz ermöglichen. Sie investieren viel mit dem Ziel der Statusoptimierung, sie passen sich an zur Statusstabilisierung, sie externalisieren und protestieren im Kampf um Anerkennung und Statusrückeroberung oder orientieren sich mit dem Ziel, einen sozialen Status in der Erwerbsarbeitsgesellschaft zu erwerben. Denn trotz starker subjektiver Verunsicherungen bleibt Erwerbsarbeit für die befragten instabil beschäftigten Personen die zentrale Statuszuweisungsinstanz, die ihnen ihren Platz in der Gesellschaft zuweist.
