Long description: Vielgesichtig und wandelbar weicht die Puppe ihren Schöpfern nicht von der Seite. Sie begleitet uns seit Anbeginn der Kultur und transzendiert dabei jedwede enge Definition. Die phantasmatisch schillernde Mannigfaltigkeit des Puppenhaften umfasst nicht nur verschiedenste anthropomorphe Figuren, sondern erstreckt sich bis zu den künstlichen Menschen der Science-Fiction und erreicht sogar uns selbst; denn die im Limbo angesiedelten Puppen und Zwischenwesen verweisen stets auf die Uneindeutigkeit des Menschseins im Geflecht aus Natur und Kultur. Der erste Teil des Buches nähert sich den medialen Repräsentationen, Diskursen und Praktiken des Puppenhaften phänomenologisch. Der zweite Teil untersucht die Semantik und Funktion künstlicher Protagonisten in den sozialen Subsystemen und im Bereich der persönlichen Interaktionen.

Biographical note: Lisa Wolfson arbeitet über politische Performance im digitalen Zeitalter aus theater- und medienkulturwissenschaftlicher Perspektive. Zu ihren Lehr- und Forschungsschwerpunkten gehören anthropologische Aspekte der Medien, Figuren des Komischen, Diskurse der Fremdheit, mediale Repräsentationen von



Transkulturalität, Darstellungen der Roma in Theater und Medien sowie Ästhetik und Politik im heutigen Russland.
