In Adenauers Kabinett war die FDP eine ebenso wichtige wie unberechenbare Größe. Sie hatte zwar Anteil an den politischen Erfolgen der Regierungsarbeit, trug jedoch auch zahlreiche Konflikte mit dem Bundeskanzler aus. Die Edition präsentiert Adenauers Briefwechsel mit den Spitzenpolitikern der FDP, Hintergrundberichte und Vermerke über ihre Gespräche im Kanzleramt, vor allem aber Wortprotokolle von drei Krisensitzungen, die auf dem Höhepunkt der Auseinandersetzung zwischen Adenauer und Thomas Dehler im Dezember 1955 auf Tonband aufgezeichnet wurden. So gewähren die größtenteils unveröffentlichten Dokumente Einblick in Bildung, Alltag und Krisen der Koalitionsregierungen unter Konrad Adenauer, der hier in der bisher wenig beleuchteten Facette als »Koalitionskanzler« |
