¿Cuáles fueron los comienzos de la producción de cerveza en España? ¿Qué factores influyeron en su establecimiento y posterior desarrollo? La cerveza en España indaga en los orígenes y la implantación de la industria cervecera desde el siglo XVI hasta principios del siglo XX , en un país de arraigada tradición vinícola, y analiza, entre otros aspectos, los cambios en los gustos como símbolo de distinción entre clases sociales, el precio y la fiscalidad de la cerveza en comparación con el vino, la protección respecto al comercio exterior, la crisis vitivinícola por la plaga de la filoxera y la llegada de la cerveza de baja fermentación que ofreció una bebida al alcance de todos.
