Catalunya carrega amb una herència difícil en educació. Acostumada a liderar històricament la innovació pedagògica, l'escola d'aquest país es troba ara massa qüestionada i poc acompanyada. Alguns volen respirar els aires que vénen del nord d'Europa per trobar-hi la solució, mentre que els governants actuals, sobretot els de Madrid però també alguns d'aquí, miren enrere amb nostàlgia per recuperar models educatius grisos i caducs. Aquest llibre dóna una ullada als principals aspectes que expliquen la situació del sistema educatiu actual català. Presenta una mirada en perspectiva internacional, bàsicament europea, sempre en clau prospectiva, i ofereix arguments per al debat sobre un model educatiu propi per a Catalunya, tan necessari en aquest moment clau per al futur del país.
