Dieses 2006 in erster Auflage erschienene Arbeitsheft hebt sich von anderen Einführungen in die Übersetzungs- bzw. Translationswissenschaft in folgenden Punkten ab: Es ist sprachbezogen (Französisch, Italienisch, Spanisch, z.T. im Kontrast zum Deutschen), und es beschränkt sich auf ausgewählte Grundlagen (Geschichte der Übersetzungstheorie und -praxis; Grundfragen der Übersetzungs- und Dolmetschwissenschaft; sprachenpaarbezogene Übersetzungswissenschaft). Für die vorliegende zweite Auflage, wurden – neben zahlreichen bibliographischen Aktualisierungen – mehrere Erweiterungen vorgenommen: So wurden u.a. eigene Teilkapitel zur Translationsethik, zur korpusbasierten Translationswissenschaft und zur Rhetorik und Stilistik aufgenommen.
