Cet l’ouvrage tente de redonner un visage aux bâtisseurs du Moyen Âge. Le projet de l’auteur est simple et fort : aller bout d’une approche sociale afin d’éclairer en plus des techniques de production et de gestion d’un grand chantier gothique catalan du XVe siècles les destins singuliers des obscurs artisans, ouvriers et manœuvres de la construction et d’entrer on relation avec les personnes et leur vie. Au total, près de 2 500 noms ont revu la lumière, et une approche prosopographique pointue a permis de décliner leur rôle aussi bien sur le plan technique que social, de montrer leur poids démographique. économique et politique dans la Gérone du XVe siècle. |
