|
Cet ouvrage présente une vision globale des repas officiels des souverains français de l’Ancien Régime. De la préparation culinaire à la décoration du lieu et de la table en passant par les repas et par l’analyse des comportements et des goûts de l’époque, l’étude se situe à la limite entre histoire et histoire de l’art ; il s’agit d’une étude pluridisciplinaire se fondant principalement sur l’iconographie et complétée par des sources manuscrites et imprimées. Cette interdisciplinarité, incluant différentes disciplines et méthodologies des sciences humaines, permet de traiter plusieurs aspects : les coulisses des repas (métiers, préparation culinaire et nouvelle gastronomie française), les repas et leur déroulement (étiquette, civilité, service « à la française », convives, faste et apparat), mais aussi la décoration de la table (lieu des repas, tables, accessoires et mets). |

In He has Opened Nisaba’s House of Learning twenty-six scholars honor Åke Sjöberg, professor emeritus of Assyriology at the University of Pennsylvania and former editor of the Pennsylvania Sumerian Dictionary . The twenty-one studies included focus on Mesopotamian wisdom literature, religious texts, cultural concepts, the history of writing, material culture, society, and law from the invention of writing to the Hellenistic period. The volume includes editions of several previously unpublished texts. |
