La chose autour de laquelle tournent les pages de ce livre ressemble à un moulin. De fragment en fragment, on s’essaie à regarder cette chose. On regarde surtout les autres la regarder tourner. On les regarde, de loin, s’en approcher et parfois, tels don Quichotte, s’y confronter courageusement. On les regarde alors en revenir : ils ont le regard perdu. Pierre Michon nous dit que ceux-là sont des peintres. Notre espoir est que si l’on prenait ici le risque, à notre tour, de regarder en face cette chose en forme de moulin, on aurait alors la chance de voir se dessiner comme un portrait de Pierre Michon lui-même. Portrait furtif, apparaissant et disparaissant dans le grand bruit des ailes, ce « bruit râpeux » dont parle Michel Chaillou dans Le ciel touche à peine terre, « un bruit râpeux ôtant on ne sait quoi, à on se sait qui ? ». |
