Repräsentative Studien zur Kriminalität und deren Entwicklung sind in Deutschland bislang selten. Ein wesentlicher Fokus der Forschungsarbeiten des Kriminologischen Forschungsinstituts Niedersachsen, in dem alle hier vorgestellten Beiträge verfasst wurden, liegt auf dem Thema der Viktimisierung. In den letzten Jahren wurden hier Studien zu Risikofaktoren der Viktimisierung, zur Viktimisierung verschiedener Bevölkerungsgruppen und zu Folgen der Viktimisierung durchgeführt. Alle Beiträge des Buches präsentieren dabei Befunde empirischer Forschungsprojekte.
