n’ont-ils pas vu ? Enfin accessibles en français, les plus représentatives de ces pages sont ici disséquées avec délectation. Jean-Yves Le Disez convie le lecteur à un voyage dans le discours bourgeois et métropolitain du xixe et montre comment se construit, souvent au mépris du « réel », le rapport impérialiste à l’Autre. Au-delà de son intérêt historique, l’ouvrage propose d’utiles outils d’analyse pour aborder la difficile dialectique de l’identité et de l’interculturalité. On ne s’étonnera pas de trouver à ces descriptions (de paysages, de monuments, de costumes, de coutumes, de paysans...) une troublante familiarité. Le discours sur l’Autre aurait-il si peu changé ?
