Die Untersuchung bestimmt den zweideutigen Standort, den Goethe im breit gefächerten Spektrum der Subjektdiskurse einnimmt, anhand einer bemerkenswerten Problemkontinuität im Erzählwerk des Dichters. Sie verschränkt poetologische mit ideengeschichtlichen Untersuchungsdimensionen und legt Goethes immer Zweifel am Individuum als einem Ort der Kohärenz- und Sinnstiftung offen. |
This study treats a central complex of issues which have hitherto received little attention from Goethe scholars, namely the question of the conception and position of the subject in Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's novels and shorter narrative pieces.
