|
This book was born from an invitation to participate in the monographic of the Forum historiae iuris on the history of law in Latin America, with a panoramic review of Mexican legal historiography during the last 20 years? Extensive essay focused on the rich historiography of the nineteenth century (1808-1910), aware that the historiography of Indian law has also developed spectacularly recently. As a historiographic review, this work is a synthesis work, but rather an invitation to immerse oneself in specialized research, whose valuable contributions are practically unknown by non-legal historians and jurists disconnected from history. I hope that The New Mexican Legal Past may serve as a guide for a new general history of Mexican law, so much needed in our universities. Pablo Mijangos y González, is a Doctor in History from the University of Texas at Austin, USA. He is a Professor-Researcher. He currently works as a Professor of the History Division.
