Der Textteil dieser Ausgabe bietet Klopstocks biblische Dramen Der Tod Adams, Salomo und David. Sie erschienen zuerst 1757, 1764 und 1772; zu Klopstocks Hauptwerk Der Messias , das 1772 vollendet wurde, stehen die einzelnen Dramen in unterschiedlicher Weise in Beziehung. Der vorliegende Band enthält ferner die Vorrede zu den Schauspielen , die Klopstock 1799 anlässlich der Ausgabe seiner Werke im Verlag Göschen schrieb, und den Apparat. In diesem werden unter anderem alle bekannten Zeugnisse zur Entstehung und Drucklegung der Werke sowie ausgewählte Wirkungszeugnisse wiedergegeben. Der Anhang enthält ein erläuterndes Register zu den biblischen Personen und Orten. |
