The volume reconstructs the professional biography of the notary Antonio di Bartolasio da Borgonuovo di Trento between the end of the 14th and the first decades of the 15th century. Both his social rise, with his insertion into the Trentino ruling class at the beginning of the fifteenth century and the advantageous marriages of his daughters with members of the powerful Calepini family, and the professional rise that will lead him to rogare for the most important institutions of the city, are retraced. from the Episcopate to the Municipality of Trento, as well as being the trusted notary of the Cathedral Chapter for over forty years. Given the quality and quantity of the documentation produced by him, his biography and his modus operandi constitute a significant case study to trace a picture of the late medieval Trentino notary. |
