Sommario/riassunto

This Proposed Resource Management Plan and Final Environmental Impact Statement describes and analyzes five alternatives for managing 651,200 surface acres and approximately 1.2 million acres of federal mineral estate in central Montana administered by the Bureau of Land Management Lewistown and Butte Field Offices. The Lewistown Field Office spans portions Cascade, Chouteau, Fergus, Judith Basin, Meagher, Petroleum, Pondera, and Teton Counties. This plan will also be specific to the northern portion of Lewis and Clark County that is

administered by the Butte Field Office...Planning issues addressed include categories such as soil and water resources, wildfire, visual resources, travel management, minerals and energy development, livestock grazing, recreation management, lands and realty, wildlife and fish, lands with wilderness characteristics, special designations, and socioeconomics. The alternatives also address designation of Areas of Critical Environmental Concern and Wild and Scenic River suitability findings.
