Dass "insgemein die Archiven wie ein vergrabener Schatz verborgen liegen", bedauert das Zedler'sche Universal-Lexikon 1732 und begründet die mangelnde Außenwirksamkeit harsch mit dem Misstrauen der Obrigkeit bzw. der Faulheit der Archivare. Heute scheint sich in vielen Archiven ein anderer Umgang etabliert zu haben: Dinge, die lange Zeit verborgen waren, von Kostbarkeiten bis zu Kuriosa, werden verstärkt einer breiteren Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt. Auch der Forschung erschließen sich neue Zugänge zu den Materialien. Der dritte Band der Reihe "Literatur und Archiv" wendet sich in einem übergreifenden Dialog zwischen Fachwissenschaften und Praxis, Theorie und Management, Fragen der Zugänglichkeit, Repräsentation und Dissemination des institutionell verwahrten kulturellen Erbes zu. |
While archives have traditionally attracted little publicity, this situation is in flux: things that were hidden away - from precious objects to curiosities - are now being made available not only to scholars but to a broader public audience as well. This volume addresses questions related to the accessibility, representation, and dissemination of institutionally preserved cultural heritage. |
